Small-business owners who enjoy staying with Hyatt have new reasons to consider the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, which just got updates to its earning structure and welcome bonus offer.
The card has a welcome bonus offer of 60,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. Plus, new cardholders who apply and are approved for the card by October 6, 2022 will receive two tier-qualifying night credits per eligible night from August 23, 2022, through December 31, 2022. This offer is very helpful if you’re trying to unlock a higher tier of Hyatt elite status and have stays planned before the end of the year.
In addition, there’s good news for both existing and new cardholders. The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card launched with the ability to earn 2x points in your top three eligible categories you spend in each quarter, but that was set to change to the top two eligible categories after December 31, 2022. This date has now been extended to December 31, 2023, giving cardholders a longer timeframe for maximizing their spending.

Limited-time welcome bonus offer
The welcome bonus offer on the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card hasn’t changed the number of points it awards after meeting minimum spending requirements, but earning two-tier qualifying credits per eligible night through December 31, 2022, is a new addition.
If you’re working on qualifying for a higher level of World of Hyatt elite status before the end of the year, this limited-time offer could be exactly what you need to reach your goal. The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card comes with automatic Discoverist elite status (Hyatt’s lowest tier), and you’d have to accumulate more elite night credits or base points to reach the next step up (Explorist).
You can qualify for Hyatt status from eligible nights stayed, base points earned, or meetings hosted. Here are the requirements each calendar year to earn each level of Hyatt status:
Keep in mind this card already awards five tier-qualifying night credits for every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year, so it’s possible to earn status without even setting foot in a Hyatt hotel, if you’re a big spender.
Adaptive accelerator extension
When the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card first launched last year, it came with a unique “adaptive earning accelerator” that awards bonus points in eligible categories where you spend the most. Cardholders earn 2x points on their top three eligible spending categories, from this list:
- Dining
- Airline tickets purchased directly with the airline
- Car rental agencies
- Local transit and commuting
- gas stations
- Internet, cable, and phone services
- Social media and search engine advertising
- Shipping
The card was set to change this benefit to include only the top two categories each quarter after December 31, 2022. But that’s now to December 31, 2023, which means existing and new cardholders can enjoy an extra bonus category for another year.
Otherwise, this card earns:
- 4x points at Hyatt hotels, participating SLH properties, and Lindblad Expeditions (in addition to the 5 points per dollar you’d normally earn for being a World of Hyatt member)
- 2x points on fitness club and gym memberships (including FIND Experiences and Headspace Subscriptions through December 2022)
- 1 point per dollar on all other purchases

Should you consider the new Hyatt Business Credit Card offer?
If the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card was already on your radar but you were waiting for an elevated welcome bonus before applying, the new offer on the card might be a disappointment because it doesn’t come with more bonus points.
However, if earning Hyatt elite status is your goal, this offer is definitely one to consider — particularly if you’re close to qualifying for the next-highest tier. Hyatt status can be incredibly valuable, particularly Globalist, which comes with an array of perks that can save you money and make your travels much more comfortable. These include suite upgrades, Club Lounge access or free breakfast, and 4 pm late checkout when available.
Because this is a small-business credit card, not everyone is eligible, but even if you don’t have a full-time business or LLC, you may still qualify. Side gigs like driving for Uber, delivering for Instacart, or freelancing can all count as a small business.
If you’re interested in earning Hyatt points but don’t have a small business, you could consider the personal The World Of Hyatt Credit Card
instead. It has a welcome bonus offer of 30,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening, and up to 30,000 more bonus points by earning with 2 points per dollar spent on purchases that normally earn 1 point, up to $15,000 in the first six months of account opening and charges a $95 annual fee.
